Sewer Backup: Repair and Cleanout Installation

Sewer Backup: Repair and Cleanout Installation

January 20, 2018

As anyone who has dealt with one can tell you, a sewer backup can be a messy and costly problem. Fortunately, the expert team at Best Plumbing has years of experience dealing with a variety of sewer issues. In this video, you can see an example of our team working on a sewer in the Seattle area, where a backup was flooding the basement of a building with water and sewage.

Sewer Line Video Inspection

Our team started by feeding a camera into the sewer line to discover the source of the backup. Our team determined that a tree root was blocking the sewer line. We dug a trench in order to access the blocked pipe and were able to remove the root. Water and sewage to begin flowing again, but we did another camera inspection to ensure there weren’t any other problems.

Sewer Cleanout Installation

Once the sewer line had been cleared, we were able to begin work on repairing the pipe. Our team used a new piece of PVC pipe to reconnect the sewer line where it had broken. In addition, we installed an outdoor cleanout (an access point to the sewer line) for easier maintenance and repair in the future. Installing an outdoor cleanout is a wise choice for any property owner since it makes it much easier for a plumber to access your sewer line in case of an emergency.
