Backflow prevention and testing is a necessity for apartment and condominium buildings, restaurants, and other public places. Local municipal codes often require annual testing, so if your property or business needs professional help, call Best Plumbing! We provide backflow prevention devices and testing in the greater Seattle area.
Backflow is when contaminated water has reversed flow and entered clean water lines. It can occur at any cross-connection between clean and dirty water lines and is typically caused by a significant change in water pressure —such as from a burst water main. The dirty water may contain hazardous materials like human waste, pesticides, or chemicals, so it poses a serious health concern.
A safety device can be installed to prevent backflow from occurring. In the case of an unexpected or dramatic change in water pressure, this device will stop dirty water from entering the clean water supply. However, this device must be properly installed and tested to ensure that the clean water line remains free of contaminants.
Municipal codes require annual testing of backflow prevention devices to ensure that they are functioning properly. You can be fined if testing is not completed on time, or the water supply to your property or business might be cut off. That is why we recommend scheduling testing well ahead of time.
Fortunately, Best Plumbing is here to help! We provide a variety of commercial and residential services in Seattle and Bellevue, including backflow prevention device installation and testing. Call (206) 785-2360 or submit a contact form online to schedule testing for your business or property.

As anyone who has dealt with one can tell you, a sewer backup can be a messy and costly problem. Fortunately, the expert team at Best Plumbing has years of experience dealing with a variety of sewer issues. In this video, you can see an example of our team working on a sewer in the Seattle area, where a backup was flooding the basement of a building with water and sewage.
Our team started by feeding a camera into the sewer line to discover the source of the backup. Our team determined that a tree root was blocking the sewer line. We dug a trench in order to access the blocked pipe and were able to remove the root. Water and sewage to begin flowing again, but we did another camera inspection to ensure there weren’t any other problems.
Once the sewer line had been cleared, we were able to begin work on repairing the pipe. Our team used a new piece of PVC pipe to reconnect the sewer line where it had broken. In addition, we installed an outdoor cleanout (an access point to the sewer line) for easier maintenance and repair in the future. Installing an outdoor cleanout is a wise choice for any property owner since it makes it much easier for a plumber to access your sewer line in case of an emergency.
If you think you may have a sewer backup, be sure to contact a licensed plumber immediately. Best Plumbing is available 7 days a week, 365 days a year to resolve sewer problems in the Seattle and Bellevue area. Check out our Youtube channel for more great videos!
